Qwen is a family of AI models first introduced by Alibaba Cloud in 2023. It centers on language models used for text generation, question answering and coding, and also includes models that process images and video. Many Qwen models are released as open-weight models. Models are organized by generation (such as Qwen3, Qwen3.5 and Qwen3.8), size and purpose, including Coder models for programming and VL models for understanding images. Designations such as 27B or 122B-A10B give the total parameter count and, for mixture-of-experts (MoE) models, the number of parameters active at once, while Q4 indicates weights quantized to 4 bits.

Qwen3.8-27B-Escha-W2, a 2-bit build of Qwen3.8 27B, needs only about 10GB for its weights.

In Qwen 3.8 27B Q4, Qwen identifies the model family, 3.8 identifies the release, and 27B means 27 billion parameters, or stored weight values.

The Qwen models used 4-bit versions, which store their weights in a compact form.
