Pixar is a computer animation studio headquartered in Emeryville, California. It began as the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm, became an independent company in 1986 with funding from Steve Jobs, and was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2006.

In 1995 it released Toy Story, the first fully computer-animated feature film. The studio also developed RenderMan, its 3D rendering software.
