LoRa
LoRa is a low-power, long-range radio modulation technique for sending small amounts of data over long distances.
LoRa, a name derived from 'Long Range', is a radio modulation technique based on chirp spread spectrum. It was developed by the French company Cycleo, which the US semiconductor maker Semtech acquired in 2012; Semtech has since supplied LoRa chips. LoRa typically operates in unlicensed sub-gigahertz bands and trades data rate for range, reaching several kilometers or more on little power.
It is used where devices send small amounts of data infrequently, such as Internet of Things sensors, telemetry and location tracking. LoRaWAN is a network protocol that runs on top of LoRa, and open-source projects also use LoRa radios to build mesh networks in which devices relay messages for one another.
