software factory
A software factory is an approach, or the system built on it, that organizes software development like a factory, using standardized processes, tools and automation to produce software consistently.
A software factory applies the model of a manufacturing plant to software development, standardizing processes, reusable components and tools so that software can be produced efficiently and with consistent quality. Rather than building each program by hand, the focus is on designing and improving the system that produces programs.
The concept grew out of efforts to raise productivity and quality in large-scale software development, and the term is also used for development setups with standardized tooling and automated build, test and deployment pipelines. In AI, it can refer to development systems in which coding agents carry out tasks such as implementing features, fixing bugs and verifying changes with little manual intervention.
