Open Policy Agent (OPA) is an open-source policy engine created by Styra and a graduated project of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). It separates authorization rules from application code, expressing them in Rego, a declarative policy language, and evaluates each incoming request against those policies to return an allow or deny decision.

It is used for Kubernetes admission control, API authorization and infrastructure configuration checks, an approach commonly called policy as code.
