Last mentioned Airbnb released Lottie as open source in 2017. Animations made in Adobe After Effects are exported to JSON files through a plugin and played by libraries on iOS, Android, the web and other platforms.
Its files are smaller than video and scale without losing quality, so it is widely used for app icons, loading screens and onboarding animations. It plays animations as fixed sequences.
