Fields Medal
The Fields Medal is a prize awarded every four years by the International Mathematical Union to outstanding mathematicians under 40.
The Fields Medal was established on the proposal and funding of Canadian mathematician John Charles Fields and was first awarded in 1936. The International Mathematical Union presents it every four years at the International Congress of Mathematicians to two to four mathematicians under the age of 40.
It is regarded as one of the most prestigious awards in mathematics.
