Ilya Sutskever is a computer scientist known for his work in deep learning. He earned his PhD at the University of Toronto under Geoffrey Hinton and co-created AlexNet, the 2012 image recognition neural network. In 2015 he co-founded OpenAI, where he led research as chief scientist.

After leaving OpenAI in 2024, he co-founded Safe Superintelligence, a company focused on developing safe superintelligent AI. His research contributions also include sequence-to-sequence learning for neural networks.
