Cross App Access, or XAA, is an open authorization protocol proposed by Okta. It extends OAuth so that when one application or AI agent accesses another application on a user's behalf, the company's identity provider approves and manages that connection. Instead of users granting permission on a consent screen for each app, access is allowed according to policies that IT administrators set in the identity provider.

Its aim is to let organizations see, record and, when necessary, cut off connections between applications, and between AI agents and business applications, from the identity provider in one place.
