Ben Bernanke is an American economist who chaired the Board of Governors of the U.S. Federal Reserve from 2006 to 2014. He earned a PhD in economics from MIT and taught economics at Princeton University.
His research on the role of banks in the Great Depression and in financial crises earned him the 2022 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, which he shared with Douglas Diamond and Philip Dybvig.
