DevRel, short for developer relations, refers to the activities through which a software company builds relationships with outside developers who use its platform, APIs or developer tools and helps them use its products well, as well as to the role responsible for that work. It includes producing technical documentation, sample code and tutorials, engaging developers through talks, events and online communities, and relaying developer feedback to product teams.

The function blends marketing, technical support and product work, and practitioners often hold titles such as developer advocate or developer evangelist. Companies whose main users are developers, such as providers of cloud services, databases and AI model APIs, commonly run it as a dedicated team.
