ClickHouse is an open-source, column-oriented database management system designed for online analytical processing (OLAP). It was developed at the Russian company Yandex for its web analytics service Yandex.Metrica and released as open source in 2016. It is queried with SQL and stores and compresses data by column so that large datasets can be aggregated quickly.

In 2021, ClickHouse, Inc. was established as an independent company spun out of Yandex to lead the project's development, and it offers a managed service called ClickHouse Cloud. The database is commonly used as the storage layer for log and event analytics, real-time dashboards and observability data.
